The New Earth Chronicles - The Story is designed to be an "Imaginatively Redemptive*" speculative fiction based on a close look at what Scripture does tell us.

The New Earth Chronicles - The Study is a platform for discussing the basic doctrines of the Evangelical Church concerning the two bookends of existence, Genesis & Revelation. This is to illuminate what we know, and examine what we think we know through Scripture and doctrine, and how we have applied or misapplied it.

Have you ever wondered what "Heaven" will be like? I think most of us have given it a passing thought; some of us more than others. If you are like me, you may have given it more thought and been drawn to the Scriptures, and been frustrated by the seemingly paltry amount of information given! 

On one hand, the Evangelical Church has not given enough attention to explaining it, largely due to the one verse that was written to give us hope, but instead has been used to shut off inquiring minds:

9 But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 

-- 1 Corinthians 1:9 KJV

It is indeed true that we cannot comprehend the truth of what our everlasting life will be like in detail, yet there is enough given to know that there are parts of the substance of it that will be completely "normal" in very surprising ways. And those substantive clues abound in Scripture once you have trained your eyes to see them.

On the other hand, the Church has failed to provide (until recently) any real apologetic, or polemical against the mystical medievalism of "harp playing on clouds" claptrap and the likes.

Instead, for generations, there are those Sunday School teachers and Theologians alike who have a less imaginative frame of mind with the attitude of "Don't be so heavenly minded you're no earthly good!" (a direct quote of one of my less imaginative Sunday School teachers despairing of my incessant inquiries!).

There is a rich and plentiful hope available to us in this age of Latter-Day darkness and despair. As one raised with a Bible in one hand and science-fiction novels in the other, I have searched long to find for myself a vision like C. S. Lewis's Narnia Chronicles and Out of the Silent Planet series. Lewis anchored his storytelling in the Fantasy and Sci-Fi tradition, while I  choose a less literary vision; no doubt due to my tired Sunday School teacher's influence!

To that end, I have written The New Earth Chronicles in two parts; The Story, and The Study. One to give the flavor and hope, the other for intellectual and theological support while tweaking the nose of the staid and practical who hide hope behind a lack of imagination.

NOTE: Much of what you find in my study has been popularized by Randy Alcorn's book and related studies on Heaven. I am pleased that he and I have arrived at the same place over the same period of time independently of each other! With purpose I did not read any of his material until recently after concluding my own studies in detail. The popularity of his work certainly shows there are many of us walking the same path and reaching the same conclusions through the agency of Holy Spirit's moving in these Latter-Days!  Alcorn has published so much material on this subject that I will be giving links to it instead of rewriting it myself. Look for links to his material, as this introductory one given to the C.S. Lewis Institute. 

May you enjoy the journey as much as I have in crafting my years of study into The New Earth Chronicles. As said by the Apostle John at the end of Revelation to our Lord and Savior Yeshua Jesus Messiah; " Come come quickly" Lord Yeshua!
